Kate Durant

Katie’s passion for helping others began while working in a residential home with adolescents struggling with emotional and behavioral challenges. Over a period of 4 years working as a supervisor, Katie was able to witness mental health appointments that the adolescents attended, as well as their personal challenges. Due to these experiences, and recognizing the importance of mental health care, Katie attended graduate school at Syracuse University in New York state. Katie graduated with an MS in Clinical and Mental Health Counseling in 2017. Since then, Katie has worked at an integrated health care facility as a therapist, combining the importance of behavioral health and physical health care when helping clients. Katie has experience working with clients of all ages, but specializes in her work with young adults to middle aged adults. Much of her work has been focused on helping individuals struggling with depression, anxiety, PTSD, mood disorders, and personality disorders. In addition, Katie has experience in group work, helping those struggling with self-esteem issues, anger management, interpersonal relationships, substance abuse and has taught DBT skills groups as well. Katie is EMDR trained and works from a combination of person centered and CBT approaches. By utilizing empathy, acceptance and humor, Katie’s clients often feel relaxed and better able to talk about personal challenges and experiences. In her spare time, Katie enjoys hikes, making her own jewelry, painting, and spending time with her dog and friends.
