Taking the first step to begin the therapeutic journey is brave and sometimes scary; often beginning when the pain of remaining the same is greater than the pain of change. I believe that every individual holds the power to their own healing but may need help accessing the answers they hold within. I, therefore, view my role as being a guide/coach/challenger while clients find their way back home to themselves; a place from which they can experience deeper, more authentic connections. It is my goal to help every individual I work with to better understand the stories they tell themselves, how those stories shape their viewpoint and reactions, and from there create a life of empowerment that is true to them.

My theoretical framework when working with clients is based in an early attachment and person-in-environment lens. I believe all behavior makes sense when viewed through these perspectives. I work with clients to identify the origins of their patterns while learning more effective strategies for healthy living. Therapeutically, I utilize a trauma-informed, relational, identity-inclusive, strengths-focused approach.

My educational background includes a Master of Social Work from Simmons University, a Master of Teaching from George Fox University and a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Oregon.  I have additional training in Brainspotting, Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT) and Internal Family Systems (IFS). Before coming to Brightways, I enjoyed working with complex teens and their families at a Therapeutic Boarding School. When I’m not at work, I like spending time with my family and friends.
