I love a role that keeps me on my toes! I suppose that is why I fell in love with being part of the medical field. It can rewarding and challenging all at once. My goal in credentialing is to ensure all off our providers can see their patients without any hiccups from insurance companies.
I started in the medical field as a receptionist/scheduler, then I was approached to fill the position of billing and credentialing specialist. I drove right into the role, making sure everything was being completed in compliance with all payors. I left my billing and credentialing position after 4 ½ years to focus on learning credentialing from the insurance side. It was a piece to the puzzle that was missing.
My background in credentialing is in outpatient services, such as psychiatry, counseling, physical and occupational therapy. I have credential through most insurances, and it seems there are new ones always popping up! This fall I will start studying for CPCS certification(Certified Provider Credentialing Specialist).
