I approach counseling from a trauma informed lens where the intention is to collaborate and explore with clients while pursuing their wellness goals. I believe that everyone comes into the therapy process with their own organic wisdom and knowledge. Treatment is provided from a strength based and person-centered philosophy.
I use evidence-based interventions such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), Mindfulness, Somatic Experiencing, Brainspotting, Internal Family Systems (IFS), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy(ACT) to help guide, reflect, and explore treatment areas.
I received a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from the University of South Carolina and a Master of Social Work from Colorado State University (1996). Since this time, I have worked with youth, families, adults and older adults in a variety of treatment settings that include inpatient and outpatient, intensive home-based, tribal wellness programs, integrated health care and rural county mental health. These experiences have left me feeling very grateful to be a part of clients’ personal journeys of self-discovery, self- acceptance and change. Areas of specialty include working with trauma, anxiety, depression, somatic based issues, mood disorders, grief/loss, life transitions, traumatic brain injury, and neurodiversity.
