As a therapist, I believe that growth and change do not come without work, courage, and commitment. However, I am confident that the process can be extremely worthwhile and rewarding. My hope is to provide a safe place for clients to explore thoughts, feelings, and behaviors that may be interfering with their quality of life. I believe this process begins with the development of a relationship between a client and myself that is based upon trust, acceptance, and understanding. I have a heart for working with children, adults, and families with have experienced trauma, grief, and/or loss.
For the past 20 years I have worked with those impacted by trauma, grief, and loss and I have extensive experience working with children and families who have been involved with the foster care system. I do not believe in a "one size fits all" approach to counseling and draw from a variety of different theories and approaches to help individuals bring resolution to whatever brought them in for counseling. I do have a long history of utilizing such things as play therapy and trauma-informed cognitive behavioral therapy that is client-centered. I enjoy working with both children and adults and have experience working with clients struggling with such things as mood disorders, anxiety, trauma, and Autism Spectrum Disorders.
I have a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Willamette University and a Master of Arts in Counseling from George Fox University.
